Netwerk VSP and green deliveries Netwerk VSP and green deliveries

Netwerk VSP is continually looking for ways of minimising the effects our company operations have on the world around us. This is why Netwerk VSP supports TNT Post's Planet Me initiative. One aspect of this initiative is green distribution. We are continuously and actively engaged in reducing CO2 in our daily operations, and from 2011 are offering our customers fully carbon-neutral distribution of both mail and leaflets.

What is it?

  • In order to be able to offer fully carbon-neutral delivery, we invest in sustainable Gold Standard projects. The Gold Standard is a sustainability certification scheme for carbon reduction projects and in terms of quality is the highest standard for climate compensation. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) was one of the organisations involved in the founding of the Gold Standard.
  • The projects compensate carbon emissions by producing clean energy (wind, sun and biomass energy). This is effected through small-scale projects, mostly in developing countries.
  • Investment in these Gold Standard projects is made by purchasing credits through the online Climex exchange. By calculating the carbon footprint of our delivery process as a whole, we then know how many credits we need to purchase each year.
  • Our operational processes and energy performance have been verified by FIRA, a renowned independent agency that checks sustainability claims.

Green solutions and safety

Thanks to the application of intelligent technology, the buildings and operational sites used by Netwerk VSP consume less energy. In addition, Netwerk VSP has carried out an inventory of all of the health and safety risks associated with its operational management and has measures in place to limit these. By implementing a policy for reducing energy consumption, we are taking the environment into consideration. This policy is extended to cover our products. The polywrap we use for leaflets, for example, is made of increasingly light material. In addition we distribute on a largely segmented basis, meaning that the right households are approached with the right message, minimising waste. Network VSP staff are also stimulated to use energy more sparingly. For example, we lease cars with an A, B or C energy label only and many of our employees drive hybrid cars.
